Our journey with Auckland Council

04 September 2020

Rewind back to 2016, when The Instillery had just moved into our first "grown-up" standalone office in Parnell, Auckland, as well as hired a bunch of new talent bringing our numbers into the double digits for the very first time.

We'd also just responded to our first government RFP to perform a Multi-cloud Discovery and business case evaluation for Auckland Council.

Needless to say, we were stoked, and honestly, a little surprised to learn that we had won. Not because we lack belief in our vision, talent or capability, but because quite frankly, The Instillery's public sector/government strategy (up until this point) could only be described as "active avoidance" - which meant in 2016 we didn't have the referenceability of those we were competing against (the classic chicken and egg scenario!).

Fast forward to today, and we've now worked on a number of projects of increasing significance with Auckland Council, and needless to say, the relationship is a very special one to the whole whanau at The Instillery across Aotearoa.

2016 feels like a lifetime ago now… If it wasn’t for Mark Denvir, Director of ICT, and his team believing in The Instillery to “take a leap”, we literally may not have evolved as a company with the mindblowing velocity we’ve experienced, nor have the epic list of both private and public sector clientele we do today.

It is people like Mark who The Instillery is built for - or as we like to say "Those with a backbone, not a wishbone. The next generation of entrepreneurs, visionaries, idealists".

So we thought it timely to say a massive thanks to the team at Auckland Council. We really appreciate the opportunity to work together, value our strategic partnership.

Check out the video below to hear a snippet of the story directly from the horse's mouth with Mark Denvir sharing a glimpse into the massive transformation that Tāmaki Makaurau, the home of more than 1.6 million kiwis, has gone through in partnership with The Instillery.
